Sekinchan
is a really great back-to-basic getaway.
That day, me and 3 of my friends felt that we are growing mushroom already from doing research the whole week by just sitting in our hostel.
We really need that fresh air and mind to keep ourselves going.
26/7/2013, Friday, Hari Nuzul Al-Quran , also a public holiday for Selangor state =).
We have an idea that we want an one-day outing but just duno where we should go. We've been alot of places at KL and really run out of idea.
For me , I want a place that just perfect to relax and enjoy nature away from modern technology. My whole idea is just to spend time appreciating the nature.
My friend then pop-out the idea, " Why don't we just go Sekinchan, since none of us been there before and seriously who want to get squeeze in the heavy traffic jam in KL? better go for something that won't cause us much stress and we could takes abundant of photos =)"
What is Sekinchan?
- Sekinchan is actually a fishing village, now more recognized as a famous paddy field due to some filming project in that area.
- situated at Kuala Selangor, just 102km from north of Kuala Lumpur( from my place), we took about 11/2 hr to reach there.
Why we choose Sekinchan?
- Not very far away.
- No traffic jam
- Budget saving. No big shopping complex around. (Because I'm a shopaholic =P)
- Close to nature
- want to see paddy field, mango farm etc
- the fishery village
- eat cheap and fresh seafood
- last and the most important. Takes photo!!!!
Our first stop, Sekinchan site A. FYI, Sekinchan had divided into 4 villages which is Site A,B,C and Bagan, doing agriculture, small business, manufacture and fishery respectively.
That 3 kids were pretty excited since this was their first time stepping into a place that got paddy field and bird's house. Hahaa, then wats about me? I'm there compare here and there. Since I was grown up in a place that has similar economy activities. Paddy field ,tractors and bird's house were not a new thing for me ,as my grandma house there has the same thing too.
Since, I'm a quite a semi-pro for this kind of thing, so I can really explain to u all =). The time we arrived there , it is the after harvest season, so every where is just bare paddy field.. Usually the fields are ploughed or sometimes left as stubble for the entire month. We are lucky to found a farmer which he is doing a business of paddy seedlings. You can see from the two pictures above. All are the paddy seedlings where the farmer will sell to others for them to plant at their own paddy field.
So this is me, working as their driver, paddy field tour guide and photographer. hahaXD |
Both acting as a kuli, holding the 40kg fertilizer for the paddy.
Because it's quite hot as we arrived there about 1pm, so after some time spend in site A, we quickly rush ourselves to a place that is more shady.
Driving around without destination, nobody of us do any homework for Sekinchan. So, I have to drive around searching for places.
And then, we saw Mango farm ahead....
This is surely not a mango farm lar!!! As I was driving, I stopped by a housing area to ask for a direction to Mango farm, and the people were so friendly that they told us, the tauke of Mango farm just went out. They don't want to disappoint us and asked us to visit their small farm instead.
Their farm has a lot kinds of plantation, from long beans, papaya, dragon fruit, lime, vegetables and more.Sorry, but I really couldn't name some, hahaXD
Nah, there, whole row of mango trees surrounding us. And, wait , what they are drinking? this is some kind of home-made fruit juices selling from the farmers nearby. All were real juices from their own farm. A cool and refreshing juice for only rm2.00 per bottle.
If I told u, this is my first time seeing long beans plants, will u laugh at me? LOLXD
vegetables, vegetables, and vegetables. I couldn't name it, sorry..
then, we moved on to Bagan, the fishing village. You will know you have reached the right place once you were welcomed by the heavy stinky smell and the lotsa seafood restaurants around u.
Found this place when we are loitering around the fishing village.
no15 Redang seafood restaurant but we din't dine here.
This is a place that you can actually come for a visit if you want to buy some special local products from Sekinchan. The reasons I promote this shop is not just because they got a Leng zai owner, but they claimed that they are now the last shop that produce it's own local dried snacks from the fish...
the thing they used last time to cut this fish dough to a small one |
this is the Leng zai demonstrator. He is actually very friendly, from invited us to his house/shop, then telling us the stories from how they started the business, methods to produce the snacks, touring us around their shop .
and now they are using machine for cutting the fish dough |
Before it could be cut into pieces, the fish dough must be left for a few days for the yeast to rise. *correct me if I've said it wrongly, cox I'm not really paying much attention while he is explaining to us...heheXP*
Yay, one fish dough can actually cut into alot of these small, sheetlike pieces. Looks really like potato crisp. ^^
and then they had to dry them under the hot sun for a few days to make sure it dried completely before the packing process comes in.
Because we duno where is actually the correct location for the Redang beach ( one of the famous beach in Sekinchan), the owner of the shop is so good that he tell us the place and even introduce us some local seafood restaurants for us to dine in. Aww, why are all Sekinchan people so friendly de!!!!!
Nah, here we are, Sekinchan's Redang beach!!!!
love, love , love!
without hesitate, they run up to the small little red summer house by the beach just like small kids.hahaXD
enjoying the sea breeze while swinging under the little shady tree. The carefree life that we all wanted so much!!!
beach grill party will held on this fish boat every saturday night!
Nah, if you wonder how the Redang's beach and sea look like...
It's actually a perfect place for a family gathering. Small tables scatter around the beach so it's very convenient if you plan to picnic here
Gruuu..that's how my stomach sound after a whole long day dint have a proper food to fill my intestine...
these 3 fellas really crazy wan lor, don't even stop a while for a lunch or anytime else. I'm seriously starving d, then about 5 something like that we only go for our lunch/dinner.
So, we choose one of the air-con restaurant that the PTP's bos recommend just now
Staring at the first dish while waiting for the another 4
The seafood there is really quite cheap. I mean really cheap until jaw-drop wan, hahaXD. Where else can you get shark meat, shrimp, prawn, beancurd, vegetables for only RM65.40. We asked for the smallest plates, but ends up bigger than what we are expecting, we even can get 3 prawns for each of us. U said Dai anot leh?
So , this is the end of our Sekinchan trip
Bye.
Not enough for u? Still want more?
then continue to read lar, I'll recommend u a place near Sekinchan.
Firefliy park at Kampung Kuantan.
You could experience riding on a traditional sampan (small boat) down the Selangor river with just Rm50( price for one sampan, maximum 4 person in a boat) and observe the 'Pteroptyx Tener' species in close proximity. The fireflies suck nutrition from the Berembang trees, or scientifically known as the 'Sonneratia Caseolaris', which is the source of their food. The tree also serves as a water filter for the river.
Life jacket on and we are now waiting for our sampan!
Watching fireflies at night is really an enchanting experience for us. A nervous excitement set in as we step into the boats, as the darkness is quite thick at first. In a matter of moments your eyes adjust and the fairy like lights of the fireflies line the shore.
This 30mins ride on the boat will sure worth every of your penny.
Before my camera battery runs out, everyone agreed to stop by shah alam i-city to take some photos first.
This one day trip was really an exciting and adventurous one since we all dint do any homework about Sekinchan before we step into this unfamiliar place. Btw, with the assist of GPS, we managed to reach the destination safely.
Sekinchan is a place that you can feel warm and homely especially when you talk to the people there. They are all so friendly to help you once they know that you are not the locals.
Research shows that colour has a strong effect on our moods and emotions. If you are feeling stress, unhappy, then you can actually try to relieve yourselves by getting to a place that can soothe out your mind.
The green colour of the paddy fields have all the tranquilizing effect. Stepping on the land that surrounded with the greenish paddy really calm and soothe my senses.
Anyway, everyone of us din't spend over RM100 for this one day trip include all the tol fees and petrol. So, a budget trip for yourself during the weekend? consider Sekinchan =)
Thanks for reading.
Have a nice day =)
